Robert Jordan is a great author, if only he could write faster. I finished winter's heart in two days...if nothing else tells you that you have no life, that alone does...and of course...

I wouldn't mind siging up on the army. If i'm gonna die someday why not do it with a gun in my hands? But then probably not. I'll move to the amazon and jin some tribe after the rest of the world has gone up in a radiation storm.

Hey, it's all about the Air Force, 100% tuition assistance while You're in, and then 25000 for college after you've done your 4 year stint. Plus free room and food, decent pay, and you get college credit for the training you get in Technical School. I had nearly enough for an associates degree after 10 months in training, It was pretty cool. And the best part is, we don't go wandering through the jungle. We send our officers to go fuck shit up. :P :P :P

I expect misery and lots of it, happiness doesn't exist and all is lost in despair. Lo be the day that I am released from this decreped cage into iminent death, partake in thine sweet slumber is my only happiness. I am a pretty hate machine.

What does it take to join the Air Force? And what are the typical physical requirements?

DannyWilson,

What's your AFSC?
2A1X7, I'm Electronic Warfare (Keep the jets from getting shot down by missles).

Not much. A highschool diploma, Taking the ASVAB (like a 2 hour IQ test) and some basic talking with a recruiter. as for the physical side of things, lemme put it this way. I was 127 lbs when I joined, and basic training is pretty strenuous, but nothing I (or anyone for that matter) couldn't handle, and I got out of 6 weeks of basic weighing 154 lbs, but it was all muscle mass. Then in Tech School, we ran and leapt and did all those wonderful cardio exercises. In actual active duty, unless youre in a squadron that demands workouts, you dont have to do any exercise outside of work if you don't have the want to, as long as you keep your body fat down(below 23% I believe).

My problem is that I might be TOO heavy. Might be something to look into if my other plans don't pan out, though.

if youre too heavy, they just tell you "you gotta lose weight before you go to basic." If youre only a couple pounds off, they send you on your happy way to basic. Believe me, I saw guys lose 20-30 lbs in basic.

Cool, I'm currently in the DEP program, my AFSC is 3C2X1 - COMMUNICATIONS - COMPUTER SYSTEMS CONTROL
(maintain and monitor all kinds of Communication systems) and I ship out at the end of next month. After tech training I'll be half well over half the credits I need for an associates degree. :) What did you think of Basic training?
