3 DVD vs. 6/8 DVD?

I'm thinking about getting the Evangelion DVD's. I've already bought the 3 DVD Cowboy Bebop set because it's cost was a little more palatable. For my next acquisition, I'm willing to shell out the extra money for the extra DVD's if it's worth it. Can anyone tell me the actual difference between the 8 DVD sets and the 3 DVD sets? And if the 8 DVD sets are worth the extra money? Thanks!

Picture quality. Audio Quality. Translation Quality. The 8 discs are Liscensed, and the 3 discs are HK's/bootlegs. I own Hellsing in both formats, and it's noticeable. VERY noticeable.

Sadly, the hellsings were the best bootlegs I've ever seen... other than the fact that they crammed 8 episodes on one disc and 5 on the other you wouldnt know they were HK's just by looking at the case...

id say the quality of the episodes were extremely similar ... (in hellsings example) but .. their was a noticable .. lack of a menu on the discs i got .. o well .. i love the series .. and i bought the 1st dvd of the liscensed set too .. (still gotta get more dough ... ) .. the fact still remains .. the hk bootlegs cost what .. 18$? 20 $ max .. while 1 disc of the liscensed american version .. costs 24$ .... (dont bs me on that .. i looked today while i was in the mall)

And shop around. If you have the fifteen minutes' patience to weed through the bootleg crap on eBay, there are good things to be had.

I've bought a few legit discs through eBay, and paid a fraction of retail cost (Escaflowne vols 1&2 for $13.00 total, for example).

Exactly. I've gotten some great deals on Ebay, and if ABSOLUTELY need a particular series, animenation.com always has nearly anything you could want.

you're looking at a bitrate of about 8 mbps average vs 3 mbps average. If you know anything about mpeg2 that should give you your answer

I'd be surprised if CBB looked good at that bitrate
