Cowboy Bebop vs Noir

Post by Madzack » Sun Feb 23, 2003 3:13 pm

I feel like starting a debate. So which do you prefer, actionwise? Cowboy Bebop or Noir?

And in a gunfight, who'll be left standing? The Bebop crew or the Noir duo?
Spike or Mireille?

Even though I like bebop better, pribably Noir would win, since that small chick is insane...but who knows maybe spike is equally insane...

Noir is a lame series about female assassins in France, building up to a mystic bullshit end, kind of like Evangelion, only not as hard. No blood, lots of flashbacks, an undercurrent of lesbian snuff, and just..

It's not a very good series.

I say Bebop.

Even if you don't take into account that Noir sucks (hard) and just looked at action, I would say Bebop is still better.

Noir is totally awesome anime.

Cowboy bebop= try hard running around shooting thing for no apparent reasons, bored the shit out of me.

People generally have a problem with Noir because their small minds can't attest to the idea that someone might have a reason to kill someone else.
That and the idea of an anime where if you get shot the entire world has to be covered in blood and one day later you got a bandaid where someone was Decapitated the day before.

Yes, Noir had some problems, guys running around it suits who have no idea how to aim a gun can be frustrating but its an excuse for a school girl and some bad arse knife girl to kick the shit out of them who cares. But, I guess most people prefer a long winded fight between an afro-boy with a gun and the only decent character who inherently walks around with a sword and doesn’t actually achieve anything with it..

What??? If anything, too many people have a problem thinking this.

Oceans of blood is bad. No blood is worse. If you kill loads of people at once (with a handgun, no less), though, there'd BETTER be blood.

I care because child assassins are stupid. "It's kids doing the killing, and there's mystical bullshit in the backstory about the kids and the adult character, too! It's deep and new!". Yawn, don't care. Give five or more guys in a scene submachine guns and not have them hit anything (the GI Joe syndrome), and suspension of disbelief becomes hard, then annoying.

Bebop, despite its sci-fi setting, is far more believable and interesting than Noir, with its mundane present day setting and mystical bullshit. The Bebop crew is far more interesting (and with fewer annoying flashbacks and pauses) than Noir's main characters. The concept had promise, but the execution was lousy.

And guns are better than swords. There's a reason no military in the world issues swords as a main weapon to their infantry - because a gun will kill you threee times over before you get into striking range with a sword.

mirielle (or however u spell it) was a complete loser .... it took kirika or chloe to get shit done right.

with that said .. i still prefer bebop .. although killing someone with a fork and a piece of plastic is priceless ... vicious and spike although ... not as cute as kirika .... just had more appeal.
...the problem I see a lot is that many good amv makers think they suck, and many bad amv makers think they're good.
I've seen it happen, man! I've SEEN IT!..
