Flash sigs? ;_; Please..

Post by Brad » Fri Feb 21, 2003 5:40 am

Hmmm... I wish the "HTML is ON" thing had a little disclaimer saying "except object/embed tags" :\

Does there happen to be a BBCode to insert flash into one's sig? I've seen some forums have that on there.. I made one according to size limits: http://www.ffshrine.net/atom/flashsig.htm

;_; I wanna uuuuuse iiiiit..... :P[/u]

That might be cool, but more likely it could be a forum policing nightmare. What's to stop somebody from, say, putting annoying audio (or inappropriate audio) into an animation?

By placing a size limit, just like on current avatars and sigs?

Can't get much sound into a 10-20 K file :|

If it's low enough quality, you can. Additionally, I'm pretty sure you can loop things in Flash. THAT would be aggravating.

Yeah its quite easy to loop sound in Flash. And if its a small enough file at a low enough bitrate, getting it under 10-20kb wouldnt be a problem.

See, it could work if there was an HTML paramater, or even a javacript that let you disable any sound automatically for the file. That way, Phade or whoever could make a custom BBcode for Flash. so you like, do [flash height="#" width="#"]http://www.blah.com/blah.swf[/flash]

And it'd automatically substitute it with the flash embed code.. But I looked to see if there was any code parameters that let you disable sound..... I'm gonna check the FlashKit Forums. Even though I doubt Phade would be hip on the idea :\

Having 10 flash animations playing at once would be a good way to make the forum unusable, except on the very fastest of machines...

Sound won't be much of a problem as long as you're doing midis.

Yeah... that's great! We have a forum with flash sigs with midi sound in them so not only do we have to listen to some music when reading the forum but if more than one person has a flash sig with music we can get two or more tunes playing at the same time!

Wow, that sounds just super ^_^';;

isnt there sum way to disable sound on flash files, or at least make it a rule that says no sound, or maybe no sound when the mouse isnt over the flash sig :\
