A "masterpiece work" generally implies that the work in question is, to a great extent, completed.

IMHO, projects are never completed, just abandoned.

Personally I think my "masterpiece" is Shining Collection as it seems to have that emotional element that Bebop007 lacks while at the same time, is put together just as well.

I guess like with anything else, it's all purely subjective. Some are simply executed better than others and like the man said, "There's always room for improvement."

 Hey...maybe this topic covers what AbsoluteDestiny talked about earlier - too much emphasis on special effects; not enough discussion on the "Art".

Well, this one's for you AD.

This post will have nothing to do with the topic.

As I was reading through the forum today I happened upon this quote. It's something I've heard and quoted in the past. Hell, I believe I've quoted the saying on this forum. But for the life of me I couldn't remember where I heard it. So where do I go? Google, of course.

Everyone should look up the various incarnations of this quote on a search engine. You'd be surprised how many supremely pretentious people use it (nothing against you, trythil, as I've used it MANY times myself). The saying has been attributed - and used by - more artists in more mediums than I can count - ranging from Oscar Wilde to frickin software designers.

So apparently this saying is one of those choose your own adventure, drop in your particular work of art things. A fill in the blank mad lib of philosophical justification.

And it sounded so cool at the time...

Oh, and I lied, I'll write about the topic. I don't consider any of my AMVs masterpieces, nor do I intend them to be. I like each one for different reasons. Besides, the term masterpiece is relative anyway. One person's masterpiece is another person's pile of crap if he/she doesn't understand it. Okay, I'm done. Later,

-N

That was such a good closing post. But oh well.

I believe my masterpiece(as of this moment) id "Challenges" out of the opinions I have, one person thinks it sucks, another person put it in slot #9 of there favorite AMVs. However, I do believe mor efans would say that, in terms of ideas and creativity, "Pills" is my masterpiece. Oh well.

I'm sure mj doesn't really mean it about the crap thrown together comment. But basically I agree. I have no masterpieces, just a few AMVs that amuse me and a couple other folkses out there. I've still gotta lot to learn.

much like koop, working on it. i tried too hard with my last one to make it good and it just turned out not nearly as good as i had planned. i'm having fun with my new one and with the way it's looking i shall enjoy watching the final result.
