Well to avoid your general "piss poor" argument, I will say that I read Eva-r about a year ago and their sign advertising their finale as "coming soon" has been there since then. Now that I've spoken with some friends, they say that the same sign has been up for even longer "about a year and a half".

Instead of dreaming up new angels and such, a good NGE fan fic will
dream up an alternate continuity by changing a choice made by a
character somewhere along the way and explores the concequenses
of it or throwing in a new character [like a new child]. I even wrote one
myself that basically had Shinjii running away after the incident w/ EVA 3
and a Russian made EVA complete w/ pilot being sent to NERV. It's fun
stuff.

personally I'd have liked to see shinji run around fucking up nerv when he was all pissed at gendo after unit 03, mostly because I could associate with the way he was feeling right about then :\
Man that ep rocked... especially the part where he was like fuck j00 to gendo.. then the whole Zeruel thing

later in the episode was even cooler

True, but I've always been under the impression that Shinji's natural
inclination was to run away and I felt that it was the best time in the
series to do it [for the story] because episode 3 was way to early [pre
Asuka ;D] and when he kills Kaouru is too late in the series to introduce
a new EVA + pilot.

Eva-r has been complete for a long time now, it's Eva-r' that is still incomplete. The difference is in a choice a character makes in episode 49, which creates the splinter story of R-prime. Both are exceptionaly good, and fit well with the series. And while R' has not been updated for a year, the front page is not the same as when I checked a few months ago, so maybe something is happening again

The avatar is actually Kensuke in a plug suit, and it was supposed to come out as a camoflouge sort of color. I'll put a better picture up in a bit. And I kept the numbering pattern in line with Eva-r', with hikari as the 8th and kensuke as the 9th.
