Nu-Metal'S death

Post by kilik^ » Wed Feb 19, 2003 9:44 pm

do u guys think that the Nu-metal still have a future in the music industry?
Korn's album didn't sell well, even though i thought it was a decent album, Papa roach's new album didnt sold well either ( the record really sucks), and i don think that limp bizkit has a bright future with their new album also... so the only band that is still breathing in this genre is linkin park.

So what do u guys think? are new bands performing this type of genre, will have any future?

I hope not. Nu-metal is basically the boy band equivalent of rock, for guys. It's not even metal, really. Give the mostly white, suburban, poseur boys who are the biggest market for it a few years, and they won't be listening to it, as most people will be like "Only teenage punks (not the literal type, the insult term) listen to that shit".

How many people here think they'll be able to listen to Linkin Park's wailing in a few years, when they're in college or have a job, and do so without feeling embarassed or immature?

Not many, I'd bet. Hearing someone's heavily manufactured song about how the world has done them wrong is not timeless.

I haven't got to that stage yet, but yeah thats very true. The thing is that people got sick of those songs that talk about hating myself, and blah blah, and what u said is true those songs are not timeless. so mainly the problem with the NU-metal is the lyrical content in my opinion.

Well, the instrumentals too. It usually seems to involve a lot of bass guitar, some hip hop/DJ vocals, a little "dramatic" keyboard, and some basic guitar thrashing - in other words, not a whole lot of creativity.

I don't really like Nu-Metal but I can listen to Linkin Park once in a while and still get some joy out of it but not really constantly. In Australia last year there was already a funeral for Nu-Metal.

I'm a bit of a fan of some numetal, particularly Linkin Park and Mad at Gravity. But I have to admit, virtually nothing in the nu-metal catalog has staying power.

I HATE IT! I wish they would stop making it. Not because it's THAT bad music. Nooo, because I'm going nuts about every 3rd AMV being nu-metal. I'm a metal fan myself, my AMV's could better be described as Anime Metal Videos for all that's concerned.

Nu-metal is something for real young kids that haven't tasted real metal yet. Or for people that can't decide for hardcore or 'normal' metal. AcK! I'm so tired of nu-metal I'd rather watch that aguilera chick on MTV.

Thats really true, before i've started to listen Rock i was a very big hip hop fan, Until Korn and deftones came out; After that i started discovering all this metal bands, and i change from hip hop to rock since then  . After nu-metal came out lot of people change their tastes of music.
