Actually, the 8086 is better than the 8088, if I recall. Full 16-bit, both processing and communication wise, unlike the 8088, which was 16-bit internally and 8-bit communication.

Of course, the 80286 beats the ass.

I have about a gig of standard ram. NOt buying any new ones until these can't do anything. I'm a money miser.

Depends on what type of ram. Fast ram, that's good for now. Slower, older ram, you will want around 256 megs. BUt it also depends on what type applications and stuff you are doing.
