I'm glad it got nominated and the film is respected so highly, sadly it will probably lose out to Disney who never does a great job of promoting anime.

Too many Disneys this year. I guess everyone else just took a break (Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A bug's life, Antz... I know I'm forgetting something)

If it doesn't win, it will be a shameful travesty and only reflect the downfall of our film and music industries (I throw in the later only because of my personal grudges, heh).

All the nay sayers should look here and look at the ratio of critic awards Sen to Chihiro has won compared to the other animated films it is up against.

Remember, the Academy tends to be easily swayed by the choices of other critic awards.

The odds seem in favor of Sen to Chihiro.

I really detested Shrek, but then again I saw it under less then great conditions, plus I was pissed because it one all sorts of recognition, when it annoyed the hell out of me, and meanwhile the Japanese got to watch FLCL on TV.
