Although its just for best animated film and not foreign or anything its still nice to see anime on the list

Nah, I think it has a strong chance. Hayao Miyazaki is getting up in years and his name has been buzzed around and respected in Hollywood and animation circles for a while now.

If anything, he is a strong contender merely because of the quality of his body of work and the fact that who knows if a Hayao film will ever get another shot at an Oscar, both of these are factors you should never under estimate, even when it comes to the sometimes unfathomable voting of the Academy.

I think Miyazaki should get some kind of lifetime achievement award. That would be all that Hollywood could do to redeem themselves.

Roger Ebert said he would be personally offended if Spirited Away didn't win something.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

Spirited Away did win Best Animated Feature Film at the Film Critic's choice awards. So I think it will win :D

It also jointly won Germany's Golden Bear award meaning it actually won for best film not just best animated film. While less high profile than the Oscars it's a great achievment.

well even though we want it to happen sprited away wont win. people there still dont take anime seriously and will probally give it to some childrens disney piece of crap
