It's a decent series, if a little short. Has some really funny moments "Mahou no waitress, Oyster Lulu!" And Tokyopop has a good smattering of extras on each DVD although there's at most only 4 episodes per disc. The manga is pretty good, although I just go and borrow the Chinese versions from a friend. I think it's pretty expensive at 10 dollars extra for a manga and a box though. But if you can't read Chinese and you do plan on getting all 4 DVDs, the box set isn't a bad idea. I kind of wish I had the box now, but it came out after I'd already purchased the 1st and 2nd DVDs.
Keiichi Gotoh does a good job of bringing the characters to life. He even appears in one of the last special end corner segments and gives a piece of advice about art to artists everywhere that I think is good advice for even us AMV editors.
There's a decent amount of action scenes, it's about par with Street Fighter V's fight scenes. But because it's more "realistic" they aren't as over the top. (You won't see a whole lot of energy and fireballs flying around and people flying around in the sky, although there is bit.) I actually like the series more for it's high school theme than it's fighting theme. Both play a big part in the anime though.

The manga is unusual...
DON'T RELATE IT to the anime. They are totally different in almost everyway possible. The manga has better detail, better curves, and better humor than the anime itself. This "other world" shit I found kind of over the top but I guess it gave the animators a chance to show off some of that street Fighter energy blast fighting. [also, flying through the roof of a gymnasium, and spilling out onto the dirt about 100 ft. away, AND THEN GETTING BACK UP AFTER THAT is cool...]
I like both. Though the manga is "skilled" in the fact that not only are all the girls very well endowed, but there are no panty shots despite the sexiness all the characters seem to "exhume". [either that or they are well hidden..] The anime is a plethora of panties and underwear. I don't mind that one bit...
It's also in my top 10. Reminds me of when Saturday Morning Cartoons were cool...
oh yeah one more thing
BEST ORIGINAL DVD MENU EVAR!!!! [look at it, it's a fuckin' fighting game!!!]
