IP/FTP help.

Post by Brolli411 » Tue Feb 04, 2003 9:40 pm

As I was trying to set up an FTP, I ran into some trouble. I'm running through a router, and I'm having some firewall problems. The FTP isn't working, and I believe that the problem is that I'm not using the correct IP. I think that I have to find my true IP, and not the on that the firewall fakes. But of course, I could be totally wrong. I'm looking for a way to find my true IP, and/or a different solution. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

What does Winipcfg or IPCONFIG say when you run those?
I'm out...

IPCONFIG says:

Connection-secific DNS Suffix........: Insight.rr.com
IP Address.........: 192.168.1.100 (This is the one that I think is fake)
Subnet Mask.........: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway.......: 192.168.1.1

And I don't know about Winipcfg, never used that.

Ah, I see now, apparently Windows XP doesn't have winipcfg. I tried it on my Win98. It says all the same things, except there is an Adapter Address:

This is strange. I tried to connect my Ethernet directly up to my computer, without the router, but it doesn't work. I tried resetting my router about 5 times, but still nothing. I'm desperate...
