Have you noticed a little something...??
Have you noticed that we have a lot more talent than those who do "official" music videos (meaning those that they release on DVDs and such). I mean tons of these official ones use the "slap-random-scene-to-music" and it's like any moron could do it.
I wonder if they would be interested in hiring some people from here. Probably not...but just a good idea don't you think?

They probably have like 100 other projects to work on plus deadlines which prevents them from putting more artistic effort.

I don't think that 'Official' is the right word for it. More of the most redound creators. The publicized. I don't really think that much attention goes toward those artists, than the artist that don't publicize as much. But in the terms of the talent, I totally agree.

He means the ones that are extras on some DVDs or in some cases, ads. Generally nobody really cares when they make them, they just want everyone to think that they have this neat little special feature. The Cowboy Bebop one is particularly bad. Fushigi Yuugi's are fair but generally these videos only exist as a sort of "highlights of the show" recap, which is rather pointless to do it that way seeing as the company allready has your money by this time.

It'd be great if MTV cared enough about the videos to allow people to do meaningful videos that actually don't suck (which is not to say there are not videos that I like. Alien Ant Farms Smooth Criminal is just plain fun, the Fatboy Slim video with Christopher Walken, whose song I forget at the moment, is vry interesting to watch, and Tenacious D's Wonderboy video is very nice, I think, to name a few), but they only want footage to music that they can play. They don't care if it sucks, or if it's utterly random (Queens of the Stone Age No One Knows video...); they just want something, anything, that they can air.
My favorite example is Simple Plan's video for I'm Just A Kid. That video exists solely as an advertisement for the movie The New Guy. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the song and just sucks. MeriC and VegettoX's Trigun video using the same song is MUCH better.

The people who edit those videos are almost always taking direction. If they have a better idea, it most likely doesn't matter because commercial tv/movies are there to make money and they have to please the person fronting the cash.
It's not necessarily their fault...post production editing is rarely free for creativity. By that time in the production (after filming/taping) it's been all but decided what it should look like in the end...by someone other than the editor.
