That's why everyone loves that damn XBox, and why so many government companies and private industries reject microsoft's softwareRadicalEd0 wrote:I still think that with that integration the downfall of microsoft will be at hand. You cant have that much control and that many people under the weight of that control and not liking it before it gives out.

I guess someone didn't read the entire article or at least the headlines, it's not just software, the TCPA can still cut off access cause it'll be in the CPU. Sure someone can take the time to resoder the CPU, if they don't fuck it up, how many people know how to do that and would waste the time other than diehard computer people who have the time to do it and the resources as well.nailz1000 wrote:blah blah blah, it'll slow down the media world for maybe a week until there's all sorts of cracks for it.

yea all the alternatives would limit what you could do with your computer.
Like I said, and so does the article, diehard people will hack the palladium, resoder and rebuffer the CPU, but what for? After that you wouldn't be able to do anything that would spark all that activity. Only cause it's a game and to see if they could do it.
Microsoft is doing this for power and money, it'll give them the utlimate back door key. Money money money money, that's why they aren't doing it alone. Cause it wouldn't fly to well, but with Intel/AMD/Government/Music and Movie industry behind them, what then?
It's already out, like Oni said about Xbox, it's already in the Xbox, certain version of XP, WMP 9, one of the new Thinkpads and something else was mentioned in the article.
