Ok, this response is probably WAY too late, BUT.....

First off, YES I am a member of hypeo, BUT I am giving a non-biased opinion here as an artist and an art student. Most ppl at STS and Hypeo will agree I am a non-biased "I'll tell you if I think it sucks" kinda guy.

Both of the images are cool. But in different ways.

I like the "fallen angel" by Eurononymous because of the emotion but euro shouldn't be afraid to experiment. As for a background he could have done something via scanned image in ps7. I would have LOVED to see some airbrushing done on the angel and maybe a glow around her and if a background would suit it, maybe he could have done a black bg but with a single shining light upon the angel to signify that she is fallen from grace and so on. He could also have easily done these things on paper. The least he could have done was ink the image. This would have given a much larger and needed amount more of emotional depth.

As for Wonka's tribute to jhonen vasquez. I think its a great piece. He's an up and coming gfx guy and i LUV his latest work. He has a way with typography that only some beginners or art students (like me) have. This is his major strong point. Now what swings my vote towards wonka, is the dark, brooding, psychotic emotion i get from his image. He uses the art of Jhonen Vasquez quite well. I would bet that if wonka submitted this work to jhonen himself, he would be (at the very least) flattered and could (very possibly) use it for commercial purposes. I dont know much about jhonen and his art but from the articulation of the character and the colors on screen, it already shows a lot of dark emotion. Wonka brought that emotion out further.

Remember this is ONLY an opinion. But my vote goes to wonka for his outstanding workmanship.

I only wish the best to the winner and much success to the loser.
