Most people I know don't actually believe in a christian god, but they believe that something is going on we don't know about. That is more agnostic than atheism.

I believe in the entire universe some planet some where would be able to support life but the life grew on the planet that hosts it. Therefore we are best suited to living here because we evolved to exist best in the carbon based, oxygen/nitrogen thermal H2O planet we're on. If we didn't exist we wouldn't be around to notice now would we?

And as for humans...I don't think we're all that different than any other animal on the planet. We have just developed self awareness and can wonder about things like why we are here where other animals may do the same but we have large brains and multiple ways to communicate (verbal language using nemes and phonemes, symbolism, written language) where other creatures cannot.

The only things I haven't heard or thought of a good theory for is how atoms came to be or if DNA is latent on all planets or can travel and is seed like throughout the universe.

There, I kept it brief :D

i'm not christian, but i do follow the beliefs to a certain degree. i believe that the bible was just a big book of fables that were originally meant to get people to be nicer to each other. you know, the basic commandments.. that is until others decided to take those 'beliefs' to the next level. i believe in people as my god; always there and watching you. i lost faith 'god' a long time ago (a story not meant to be shared with people on the internet) so i just made a substitute for god and went with the flow.

other than that, i really don't know. perhaps faith was created by the phobia of death; some fear it, others pray for it. what happens after you die? read a book. see if you can tell the difference.

Some animals seem to.

Just by looking at evolution you can see that we are animals, born from the planet. And we are capable of...well..quite frankly pretty much a lot of things. Some animals are really vacant though. I like frogs but they are so stupid, they don't even seem to notice when something is eating them :?

So, just think that the rest of the animal kingdom has to fall somewhere in between.

I don't think any animal without a valid and varied communication system is capable of such thought. Whales and dolphins have a very wide vocabulary...so maybe they have something to say in there as well :)

I agree with you kamoc.

Saint Nick used this method on children, he prmised them reward and they became better people for it. The diffrence was be good and do what your parents tell you, and you'll get presents. I don't think Jesus was gods son, i think he was just a man like goo 'ol nick. But instead of children he focused on adults. The prompt, be a good person and do onto others as you'd have done to yourself, and reward, heaven.

I think that's what ti comes down to. One big lie to get people to be better.

I'm a Christian, but not in the traditional sense. I don't believe that the Bible is the "word of God" so to say. I definately believe 100% that there is a God out there, but I probably only happen to follow the Christian faith since that was the way I was brought up.

and that's perfectly fine. the only problem i can see is the fact that most people are only in their religion to become the person in the hall of the afterlife who points their finger at you and shrieks "hahaha! i was right!"

if that's the case, then let's hope that there's not too much of an echo in there.
