I am still waiting for the bebop movie. For example. I could buy the region 2 DVD off Animenation for 100 bucks... then all I would need is a DVD player that reads region 2 DVD's and a PAL TV.
I agree with him on this ONE point. I like Akazukin Cha Cha enough to want to make a video of it, but the Region 2's are $270 and OUT OF PRODUCTION with no forseeable American liscensing in the future. I'm really considering buying the HK's just to make this video.

I always thought that PAL provided superior resolution compared to NTSC, even though it's at a lower frame rate. So each has its own advantages. Or am I just off my rocker and confused?
I thought PAL was 25 and NTSC was 23.97

NTCS can do up to 60 FPS interlaced, I am talking non interlaced, in which case you would end up with FILM, and 23.97 FPS.

My teachers in college thought SECAM was best for quality picture. PAL does have different resolution but if we're talking about improving to an all around better standard, I am all in favor of going high definition and not backwards to standards invented when broadcast was an infant.

yes, but practicaly, should we be using all the pixels that our TV's can be using before we start uping the fucking resolution? As is DVD's are the only commerical thing that is actually using the full resolution of the TV and the 2000 bitrate MPEG 2 isn't cutting it, there are still compresion artifacts and mishaded pixels and other various crap like that. Once they get a no loss codec to watch video on, and there is nothign else that can be improved visually. THEN up the standard, but as is I say get what we HAVE wroking right before moving on to soemthing else.

Of course, there's also people like me, who cannot afford to buy DVD's. Hell, I don't even have an actual DVD player, I have to use my PS2. I only download anime because I can't buy it. Believe me, if I could afford 30 bucks a DVD or more, I would be all over starting a collection going as soon as possible. But I can't, so I'll just download.

Damn skippy. I refuse to just do without anime just because I'm poor. That would be like refusing a poor person medical attention when they've been shot in the face.
