Hey everyone, here are some recent developments in the digital video world, something for just about everyone. Some of these are a few weeks old, so I'm not sure if they've been posted and I'm too lazy a bastard to use the "search" function. Anyway:

Sonic Foundry will be releasing Vegas Video 4 and is providing a free demo on its website for you to check out. So all you Vegas Video junkies drop over and knock yourselves out:

For you Apple users who want to move up from iMovie but don't want to pay the hefty pricetag for Final Cut Pro, fear not, for now Apple offers Final Cut Express! Running at $299, it's definately worth checking out.

For those of you sick of iMovie or Windows Movie Maker a new, free editor is on the horizon from the granddaddy of all digital video system creators AVID! Due out in the second quarter of this year, Avid Free DV will give almost everyone (read: OS X and Win XP... us 98SE'ers are SOL here) an opportunity to check out the Avid interface and see if it's worth plunking down the $1500 for XpressDV.

Finally, proving ONCE AGAIN that you DO NOT BUY PREMIERE ALONE, V One Multimedia has released a FireWire DV card, called Snazzi, bundled with the full version of Premiere 6.5 and a bunch of other software for the price of $449, which, last time I checked, was at least $30 less than if you just bought Premiere on your own. Of course, if you're savy enough you know there are Premiere bundles out there even cheaper than this. Newbies, take note.

Well, that's all. Hope you found this useful.

Oh, one more thing. If you want multimonitor support (3 monitors) and After Effects and you have the money to burn, Matrox will be bundling it's awesome 128MB Parhelia card with the compositor for $799. While not a giveaway, it is $200 less than if you buy the two seperately.

There, now that really is all.
