A new P2P distribution method...
I came across this excellent way of P2P distibution
http://www.anime-source.com/html/module ... ge&pid=197
The good thing about this sytem is:
1. Doesn't need a program to run. It only needs a script.
2. If you download, you have to upload, or else you can't download.
3. With this new system, it actually makes your download go faster.
Well, it's quite a simple plan. Basically, you just click and download normally off a link on a downloads page. What this program does is that if you're downloading, and another dude comes along to d/l the same file, he will connect to you instead of connecting to the server, this script is rigged in a way that you cannot stop uploading if another guy starts d/ling a file. In this way, your computer is turned into a node for others to d/l as well for you to d/l other users who are logged on before you, because of this, the speed could be higher than normal P2P networks and it could be even faster in fact.

Wow... that sounds really great... but.. uhh... why is it that you are always looking for hosting solutions? It seems like your entire mission here on the org is to provide hosting solutions? Are you just a really nice guy?

Yes, I'm going to cambodia on a mission trip tommorrow... hell, I volunteered
, I'll post up some pics when I return...
But that's not the problem, I'm now working with some internet pals whom I know since 1999 (Their site is the above link), they started up a site where you can download fansubs and they have spent much more time reserching into these technologies, since most ppl here at a-m-v.org have problems with hosting, this might be the answer... with this program, the possiblity of using Home Servers to serve AMVs and fansubs can be truly realized...

Bittorrent is likely not going to help you with amv distrobution at all. The way bittorrent works is on the assumption that many people are constantly downloading the same file. This probably isn't the case with your AMVs. Back when I was hosting all my amvs on my own server, I rarely had more than two people downloading at a time. Now maybe just no one likes my videos, and you get much higher response than that, but unless you consistently have about 3-4 or more people leeching the same video, bittorrent is pretty much useless.

how about someone set up, a DC channel we can use to disro our AMV's? that way even the people that are behind firewalls and have their comp on a network can esily and quickly get all our AMV's out there for everyone to see?
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab
