The thing is even if it is only $1 to the artists it is better than nothing and if the album would have potentially made only 10,00 extra sales it would still be something, if an artist gets nothing then they might not have inspiration to continue their work. Also this applies to record companies, they might not want to support a band which doesn't sell well even though everybody is a "fan", Take CS for example it is upgraded slowly and it took a while for the expansion to be announced, everybody knows it is the most popular game in the world but so many people pirate it that it is not worth it for the software company to keep it alive.

I pirate anime and games both. Is either of those losing money? No, because I have no money to spend. If I did have money, I'd buy stuff, but I don't, so I cannot do so. That being said, the music industries opinions really don't matter to me at all. This is the same industry that pumps out record after record of useless, uninspired, unoriginal trash just to make a quick buck. If they were in the industry for the music, instead of to line their pockets with gold, I'd listen to their opinions, maybe. But instead, they are simply greedy, selfish pricks, and as such, I don't care about them.

Well why I don't agree with copying too much stuff I myself listen only to mp3s and records I have had for years. Ive got 6 music cds and they are quite pointless when I can just listen to mp3s. As far as anime goes I have an interest in making sure it is commercially succesful here this is a pivotal time. I buy all the anime I like when it is commercially released.
