<xml language="english 1.1,_latin.modern"><sarcasm>
A 5 page, opinionated (and sounds to me corporate-influenced) article in such a prestigioud magazine such as Time?
</sarcasm></xml>

Ugh. I knew TIME was a corporate sponsored AOL TIme Warner creation, but 5 pages? That's a very, very large chunk of the magazine, dedicated to alienating one of their more obscure markets. Whoops, AOLTW!

But this is a local newspaper. Remember, this is a quote. From the MUSIC INDUSTRY... and they are I believe blaming anime and other things as part of the economic problem. Like thier laziness, insensitivity and incompotence isn't worse.... anyways, I'm selling DSNY and buying Studio Ghibli. I'm moving 3.5% of my assets to Euro and Yen, too.

Just wanted to post all this to let people (who don't already know) a taste of What Corporate Bastards Are Saying Behind Our Backs.
We already have schools and politicians selling out to corporations and brainwashing us with ads, and now they're attacking anime?

Next things you know, they're going to say that our purchases of foreign products is unpatriotic -_-.

Whenever an industry is losing money, they need somewhere to point a finger. They never want to say it's themselves, and besides, now that the technology is out there, you cannot stop the CD burners. Sometimes, companys don't really need to point a finger because it's rather obvious who is making them lose money (Napster), but in this case they're just trying too hard to find an excuse.

So what if more people are watching japanese cartoons? (Shut up, that's my choice of words. I don't want to start another debate.) What they should do is find some way to share in on the market, instead of whining.

my reply to this guys statement is, "And you blame ME for the fact that you're pedaling a product noone wants?" if you werent grossly overpricing your CD's and marketing music people don't want to listen to then *GASP* MAYBE YOUR BUSINESS WOULD BE DOING BETTER!
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

Well local stores really have no choice on prices.
Also if local chains stocked what people want then they still wouldnt make money, music piracy and anime piracy is rampant now. It is hard to find someone without any unauthorised music, movies or anime.

Are you saying that currently you don't buy any or you buy both and don't have to choose.
