AMV Contest Back From The Dead

Heyo everybody. I don't know if this is the proper forum to post this - if I need to be banished to the AMV contest forum, so be it. I ran an AMV contest for a long time for the AnimeFest convention, and, that convention had its last run in 2024. But, it turns out, if you are a dude who has run things for, well, just this side of forever, then maybe the contest won't actually go away. The convention runners of AnimeFest are looking at running a board gaming convention in 2026... which is a waaay long way from an anime convention. But, I think that I could convince them to back me running an AMV contest in this.. not anime convention.

So, I'm here to ask you all... would you ladies and gentlemen even be at all interested in submitting an AMV to an AMV contest ran in a boardgaming convention. If you're super mercenary, I can probably say we'd have the same "cash" (read Amazon bucks) prizes. If you're interested in my judge team, it turns out I still have the same connections to Hollywood and TV, so my judges would still be people who'd worked in the "big leagues".

But, I could fill a room with a thousand people to watch AMVs back when I was running the show for an anime convention. If you were one of the videos that I said was a finalist, you had a good idea that my convention alone meant that a thousand people watched your video. A boardgame convention is a different animal. With no disrespect to the boardgamers amongst us, they are weighing how many sheep are worth an iron, and thinking less about watching an AMV. I am not sure that I will be able to fill a video room of 100.

Hence, this is me, turning to this board, from whom, my, I'm just going to say the last twenty years of me running a contest has produced the most amazing AMVs, and I have to ask all of you... am I grasping at a straw? Would you send an AMV to a convention that expected, maybe, 500 attendees?

It might be worth a shot, 500 is still a lot imo. Might be good getting it up earlier too since there was a a long break. Go for it
