I think that if anyone has any beef with anyone else they should send them private hate mail and leave these posts alone...cause people like me come in and see all the posts, and then they think, who the hell are these people....they get confused then start throwing up green pea soup on themselves then their heads get big and explode. luckily I close my eyes to avoid such a horrible fate. It's hrd tui typpe with myu eyes closed, much less make a videio.

I agree with your core message here... and for the longest time have felt impertinence shown to the amv elders not just including me (oh god no, will I be called an elitest for that? j/k). hehe I agree my comments at the start came off very agressive, but as the debate progessed my stance and mindset changed. You are right, people are way too easily offended on forums and vs talking it out they would rather attack.

Maboroshi, you did sound rather elitist and intolerant with your statements about the rating system and the VCAs; yes, all-10 reviews might not be objective, helpful, or meaningful, but they mean someone loves your video so much, they're left more or less speechless.

I am sorry, but I don't agree with your view here on the perfect 10s... that isn't a review it is giving praise and defeat the purpose of the review process. Those are two different things and I don't think it is wrong / elitest in pointing that out. I think another method of leaving praise for a video would be great and an outlet for the people who just want to do that. As far as the VCAs, when people give out so called perfect 10 reviews I don't think that is very objective. I decided not to be a part of the contest by my own choice and didn't make a huge stink about it, since I knew the results were going to be talked about for a long time (errr I mean bitched about LOL).

I mean if I have an opinion that differs it is being elitist... I think that term is used way too easily considering it is such an offensive word imho. What I brought up isn't elitist about the rating system unless you believe that perfect 10 reviews are objective, but even still how does me having a different opinion make me elitest? IMHO it is people giving praise to a video they love and there is nothing wrong with giving praise, but is not objective and why I feel the voting / rating system could be revamped. My basic point was that I would love to see a-m-v.org get back to the basics why it was founded... which is the database.

Rozard had the right idea: there is a new generation of AMV creators being born; we are the new children of this family. People like EK, Kusoyaro, Brad deMoss, dokidoki... they are our elders. We all enjoy anime, so we all know the japanese family system: respect your elders above all else. We should take a cue from this, instead of shuffling our elders off to the old folks' home like we've done to EK. They may be elitist or egotistical, but they've been around the block; they know what they're doing, and we should learn from them, not only in their creations, but in their mistakes as well, both creatively and socially.

I think the words egotistical / elistist are used way too much... I speak my mind and I don't pull punches. I usually get myself in hot water, but I would rather be honest to myself. Since I am established I am not allowed to have an opinion, and if I do have a view that differs from the masses I am an egotistical / elitest bastard? Should I shut my mouth and just be quiet in the background? I think this is a major problem... if an established creator speaks out and people don't agree they automatically say, that creator is being elitest / ego maniac.

You used the word intolerant, but you yourself could be called that and many others. Why? becuase everyone should be allowed to have their own opinion without being persecuted for it. I was called an elitest for having my opinion, which is somewhat an example of intolerance and impertinence in my book. Just because a person doesn't agree with your point of view doesn't make them wrong, a bad person, elitest, egotistical, or all of the above.

I don't intend to offend people and that isn't why I made the original post... it was to voice my concern and open up dialogue which I think I did. Through the discussion even I changed my position and why debate / talking about things is good for a-m-v.org (not flaming / yelling)

anyways... if anyone is offended by this post please respond with an individual message so I can explain myself better vs a nasty response here. I think we all have to try harder to play nice for the benefit of a-m-v.org

The worst thing that could happen to this community would be if it got artsy fartsy. I personally think all contest should be won by the funniest video!!! Anyway everyone needs to chill out just a little. If I make an offensive comment it's usually so ludicrous that only a moron would get offended by it. Such people exist here. I have accepted that. You want to offend me it's really easy punch Lum. Mexican junior will one day wake up and see he is in chains hanging from a ceiling and after he spends 10 years being fed only enough to keep him alive looking at a room of nothing but pictures of Lum he will come to realize his mistake. I hope that people in this community are not in some kind of pissing contest to see who's video gets more awards. If I ever do make a vid it will be for fun and enjoyment not to see what other people actually think about it.

Now, as for being elitist... I never meant to infer that having a different opinion means being elitist; being elitist is not an absolute. It was the way that you came across that made you sound elitist. You may not have trying to be that way, but that's how it came. And I know that it can't be helped sometimes either.
