RPGs for Playstation 2.
What does everyone think of the RPGs out on PS 2 right now? I think that some are good and some are just... nothing great like everyone says.
The RPGs that I thought were good are...
Legaia 2: Duel Saga: Great, only really needed to have some plot twists and turns in the storyline, it has a rather old school storyline that works nicely for some enjoyment in it though. And Fresh Games totally ruined the voice acting, while having good voices that go with most of the characters(with one or 2 exceptions)... the lip synching was a joke and ruined all of the decent voice acting.
Wild Arms 3: Excellent, the story had too much going on but once you figure it out... its a great one. Its also the ONLY PS 2 RPG that has an actual World Map that you can rome around on freely.
Shadow Hearts: Great, the main character was probably my favorite characters of all time in the world of anime and video games. The story has a very dark feel to it and it ACTUALLY takes place on Earth and mentions some real events that have happened it the past.
Grandia Xtreme: Good, it had really good gameplay and an amazing battle system. It had a pretty weak story but that always happens in dungeon-based RPGs. The voice acting wasn't good to me though even if they hired big name celebrities such as Dean Cain, Mark Hamill, and Lisa Loeb, they didn't seem like they were trying too much with it.
RPGs that I thought were just... alright are...
Final Fantasy X: Squaresoft ruined it for me. They changed EVERYTHING, it didn't feel like Final Fantasy. The sphere grid leveling up system was horrible, your characters eventually were the SAME except in appearance and overdrives. Tidus is a lousy main character, he was a whiny bastard(well the US voice actor did a shitty job), he had no potential to be a hero in my opinion. Seymour is one of the worst antagonist characters ever, he sounded gay when he talked to top it all off. Square... please put some good work into Final Fantasy 12 whenever that comes. You should just make FF 12 next and skip the sequal to FF 10. All the hype for nothing.
Kingdom Hearts: It was a pretty good game considering it had a disney based setting and characters but... the worlds were really gay until the end of the game. The idea of a Keyblade being a weapon was pretty stupid on the other hand. The gameplay was good and that was the only thing that kept me into the end.
Suikoden III: The best storyline in ANY RPG... yet it has an irritating system where you switch between characters and see the same cut scenes over and over again sometimes, the graphics were pretty crappy for a PS 2 game, everything had a choppy look to it. The music and the battle system SUCKED. All the hype for nothing. Only strong point was the storyline. If you want a Suikoden game, play the first 2 instead because they're some of the best RPGs created.

Ok, you're three 'alrights' are probably all my favorites. It's just a matter of opinion.

i have to admit Squaresoft my fave is letting me down... so i'm just sticking to the old ones for now, especially Tactics.
Madness and genius are seperated only by degrees of success.
I don't think necessity is the mother of invention - invention, in my opinion, arises directly from idleness, possibly from laziness. To save oneself trouble.

So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab
