Is Martian Successor Nadesico any good?

Agreed, the ending was terrible but the show itself is quite good. Plus, Ruri in the cat suite = :O

I too hated the ending although you cant really call it an ending. It kinda left it open for a sequal, hell in the dubbed version atleast Ruri says the would be an inevitable sequal although I doubt that will happen. I really want to check out this prince of darkness movie.

Yeah so where is the next seaon? I'll answer you they never made it. I find the Nea alot more interesting than the main girl and I want to know where she went and what happened to the ship. So if I can't know that then it was a waste of money.

That being said, don't waste your money on the domestic release. Besides the fact that they used the TV version instead of the cleaned up and reworked version released on VHS/LD/DVD in Japan, it's overlayed to hell and they are ass-ugly. I've seen AMV's with better compositing than these.

Can't disagree with you more. I have the tapes dubbed and its helluva funny and the quality is great to me.

The prince of darkness dosen't do anything for the tv series and ruris cuteness is reduced by 3/4 ths

Prince of Darkness is canon, as is the sequence in the Gekiganger 3 OAVs. The real secret of Nadesico's ending is in the Sega Saturn game, which most people seeing the movie in Japan would have played. Sadly I haven't seen a translation or summary for it online.

re: the dub VHS, YMMV. I for one prefer the enhanced artwork and not seeing the signs stay still while the frame wobbles...
