Seems that the music industry said, "Yeah, we price gouged you consumers for 6 years. To say we're sorry, here's $20 each." From Jan 1, 1995 through Dec 22, 2000, music companies fixed prices high just because they could. As part of a class-action settlement deal, several major music industry leaders (Bertelsmann Music Group, EMI Music Distribution, Warner-Elektra-Atlantic Corp., Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Trans World Entertainment, Tower Records and Musicland Stores) agree to shell out $44 million in twenty-dollar bills, but only one per person.
