This is probably the best idea yet! And yes it is not all to dissimilar from how expo is done, but it does remove the category sweeps, it does prevent default wins, it sets a blanket number of awards so the logistics are much simpler, and best of all it allows only the best and brightest to shine which will force the quality of entries to improve every year.Warlike Swans wrote:How would this variant of the top 10 be?
People vote for their favorite videos and categories at the same time. The videos are all listed, ..... skim contest rules.
It would mean starting pro voting earlier, but for those of us that cut our teeth on July due dates, it's no big deal!

TBH, I remember the days when the deadlines were in July. August into Sept was the whole voting process, and the whole process was longer so there was more time to watch videos before category nominations were due (rather then 1 week.) I honestly wouldn't mind the deadlines being sooner, sure I probably wouldn't have been able to submit at all this year if that was the case (life, moving, ect getting in the way) but it does resolve some logistical issues like needing the awards in by a certain date.Mr Pilkington wrote:It would mean starting pro voting earlier, but for those of us that cut our teeth on July due dates, it's no big deal!
Honestly, a lot of the issues related to trophy deadlines I think is self made on Jingoro's part. You push the deadline back, make each segment of judging shorter, and all in the name of giving us more time to make our entries. Yet in the end most of us still wait to the last min to finish and submit. Can't say building in more time in the judging part of the competition will resolve issues with editors not voting, but it does resolve issues like Wired discussed and even I experienced this year with not really having the time in such a short period to properly watch everything.

I will so move the deadlines up, if we need more voting time... nobody's asked for that before, just more editing time.ngsilver wrote:Honestly, a lot of the issues related to trophy deadlines I think is self made on Jingoro's part. I'm actually liking this, even if it is similar to how Expo is done.Warlike Swans wrote:How would this variant of the top 10 be?
