Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri「AMV」- Still Worth Fighting For [My First AMV!]

Post by Xragons » Sun May 29, 2016 8:03 pm

Hey everyone so I recently just finished my first AMV on the anime Kabanei of the Iron Fortress. I've been watching AMVs since 2009 and 2008 and I actually never got around to make one until now! I know it's not the best edited but I hope to improve in the future.

Feedback is always welcomed :D

As I mentioned I am new at AMV making/editing and I use sony vegas 13; So do you guys just do trial and error in editing (like effects and everything) or sometimes look at tutorials or guides on certain effects? I know youtube has a lot, but are there some tutorials here?

Hope you all enjoy it xD took a while to get edit this :X

Thanks, Xragons.

congrats on making your first vid! 8D now you won't ever be able to stop +_+ you're here forever.
i think the music tone really fit how the anime looks (haven't seen it so I can't say how well it fits the story D: ) the pacing definitely picked up as you got to faster parts of the song, which i feel new editors sometimes have trouble with. there were some crossfade transitions in action scenes that were a bit jarring, but overall its an excellent first step :D

I definitely trial and error, but talking to other editors is also very helpful (most of them don't bite...)
for tutorials this may be a good first place to look: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... m.php?f=59 may not be the most active but there are a lot of very knowledgeable people who are willing to help.

also, you should upload your video to the org so more people can see it and rate it! (and so scary kireblue doesn't move this thread to the general discussion forum ;D)
