How about a compromise?

Allowed to send two(2) submissions, but you can only designate one(1) vid as entry to the contest while the other is automatically relegated to the non-finalist schedule? The choice of which vid is left up to the editor.

Of course I'd prefer to wait until the move to DC before testing this out.

To me, it's not so much important that any one contest allow one or multiple submissions, I just like that there are options among the many different ones. I'd be disappointed if all contests operated one way or the other, I think.

Honestly, I don't care if it's changed or not, I just get annoyed when people are like "I WON'T MAKE FINALS EVER IF THEY ALLOW PPL TO SUBMIT 2!", lol...

I'd like to see the addition of allowing a second entry to a specific category as well. Mainly comedy. I still think this would keep the nature of the contest and allow comedy to get helped out as its almost always lacking in entries. Almost every year Ive seen the contest (Excluding last years) it feels like theres always only been 1 or two videos that really had a shot at winning the category. Not that the other videos were bad, they just didnt really seem like strong audience grabbers or they were pushed into comedy from another category because of its lack of entries.

Who are you directing these degrading strawman comments towards?

l33tmeatwad: I respect you as an editor, but if you continue to puff your chest in this manner, I will respond in kind. Honestly, I'm pretty damn close to throwing a mudball back at you, but I'll hold back for the love of the contest. The other editors have been respectful and logical without resorting to degrading comments.

We can discuss the idea on its merits, or we can start flaming each other. Its your choice, and I hope that you choose rational discussion of points.

I'm not directing my comments at one person, I've just gotten tired of people over time complaining about not getting a shot in the finals cuz of this or that and the same people sometimes refuse or are bad at receiving feedback. It's not just about this contest, but about all those editors that just want their green ribbon for participation like everyone deserves a turn to get the prize. I would like to say that I was actually disappointed with some contests on different occasions when the competition in particular categories I participated in was rather weak. I'm all for it being tougher if the quality as a whole increases.

Okay, as long as you're not really targeting anyone in particular.

-----------

As far as "Comedy" is concerned, maybe its a stigma of being "last" in the contest? Everyone knows that it is Comedy's job to "clean up" the contest, and maybe editors are too scared to submit to it? (or something). It might be a better idea to reorganize the categories, instead of complicating the rules. If Comedy doesn't get a lot of entries, maybe it should be "Upbeat / Comedy" as one category, and "Action / Dance" as another?

Combining any category with comedy basically just screws over everything but the best comedy video...
