Congrats to all the finalists! I'm still insanely curious to see what the slate of videos is going to be; so far there are only a few I recognize from the creators' names.
Yeah, I got knocked out submitting to the Romance/Sentimental category this year too. There is little room for imperfection apparently.

Also, congrats to dragontamer and alexmichur00 for getting your video in again!

I lost the coin toss though. So therefore, it counts as alexmichur00's video :-( If he's nice, I'll probably get some collaboration credit.

Scratch that, I'll ask for collaboration credit only if we win best in show. Anything less, and he can keep it to himself.

Congrats to all the winners. I'm sorry for everyone who didn't make it in. I know there are a lot of good ones in that mix, and I'm sad that I can't see them all. :(
This will be my Otakon debut :D It will be intersecting hearing people's reaction to my video.

I think my videos would do better if there wasn't a mass shooting every year I make a video with a lot of shooting in it. Especially this year.. I made a video to Take Me to Church. It probably needed more editing anyway.

Hey, I know before we've arranged to have AMV editors dinners on the Thursday before the con. Anyone interested in doing that again?

Hey, myfirstvid.wmv is still my trending and most con-successful video despite the Windows Live Movie Maker handicap  .

Cool, the "Otakon Mail your Badge" system seemed to be working. I just picked mine up today from my mailbox. How's everyone else doing?

The earlier deadline seems to be the major contributing factor behind the drop this year. Usually the final week is very busy for the FTP server, but it sat relatively unused until Sunday morning. With the earlier deadline, my guess is a lot of people who would have made their videos after school let out, didn't have the chance to. Unfortunately I can't do much about that. Stay in school, kids.

This weekend's prescreenings/blackout party was a success. We had 18 people ready to evaluate AMVs in the dark if they had to. Finalists have been tallied and troll-checked. They'll be off to Otakorp legal tonight. Once they're cleared, they will be announced!
Have you ever considered the possibility of alleviating the submission restriction a little bit? I would like to suggest that Otakon ups the number of submissions from 1 to 2. As long as you still keep the "no prior wins" rule, I feel that the contest will maintain its freashness and continue to be the convention where numerous AMVs premiere at every summer. I feel that this adjustment will only make the contest better because it will allow editors to take risks and not just play it safe. By having the option of a 2nd entry, editors can send in videos that they may not feel have the best odds of making finals, but they would still like to give a chance. This will also ensure that you get enough entries to make the contest as strong as possible
