If you don't mind me asking, what is the difference between fun and upbeat? Why not make them a single category? o:

Excellent question.

"Fun" is for videos that are lighthearted and make you smile, but aren't really funny enough to be considered comedy.
"Upbeat" is for fast-paced videos, usually with EDM or dubstep audio.

I tried to think of a alternative name for "upbeat" because it's ambiguous, but the best I could think of was "uptempo" which I really don't like.

Videos that would normally go into "Action" now go into either "Dramatic" or "Upbeat" depending on whether the emphasis is on drama or tempo. The reason behind this is that the majority of Action videos are also Drama, and the majority of Drama videos contain Action.

EDIT: ironically I just received several entries that fall squarely between Fun and Upbeat.

Thanks for all the new entries, people! We're still a little light on Comedy, but the other categories are well balanced.

While I still think it's a bit odd to separate videos based on simple things like pacing and the genre of music, it may be a good idea to combine them for this year Better to have 1 strong category than 2 weak ones.

Agreed with Yue. Besides, some of the fun videos might also fit upbeat and at this point you will only less than a week to fill those categories. Why not just merging them?

This category format is very much an experiment, but I'm satisfied with how it's shaping up so far. If any category gets folded it will be Comedy, but I'm very reluctant to do that because it's so popular with the audience.

Remember that splitting the categories is better for contestants: more categories = more chances to win!
