Wordless Anime Openings

Hey everyone, I'm new to the orgs and thought I could get some help. I've been making AMVs for about eight months now on YouTube and I'd like to step up my game a bit. There's a ton of great content in the actual shows that get edited but I'm sure most of us can agree that there is also sometimes better content in the opening and closing sequences. My question is if there is a place I can acquire wordless anime openings (A.K.A. without credits in the way) and if not, if there is a way to edit them out. My editor is Wondershare Video Editor (It's not great but gets the job done) so it's not the best, but if I can get some help with this I'd really appreciate it.

Many DVDs have clean openings. If you're asking for where to download them for free, that is against the forum rules (found here: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/forum/v ... f=14&t=289).

the only way to edit out the credits (in 99% of cases) is to pull a nostromo and do frame-by-frame image editing (preferably on photoshop)

As you can see, there are patches etc which could be avoided with more time being spent on getting the colours correct. But considering the scenes from openings you are likely to use will be quite dynamic (i'm guessing), it probably won't be a big deal, as it won't be noticeable at actual playback speed.

But yeah, it's tedious as hell; you're going to have to do this for pretty much every single frame

Aside from the recommendation of manual removal being ridiculous, if you have to do it using then content aware fill would make life much easier than actually painting over them manually

I personally would not recommend content aware fill for anime openings... It might be all good for backgrounds that don't contain precisely shaped elements, but in anime openings, you're going to have "precisely shaped elements"...the characters, of course. But yeah, sure, it could probably do an okay job in the example I used, except for removing the text around the corner of the eye

I mean...for like skin areas it will match better than a person can, and if it messes up you wasted all of 2 seconds...and let's be real about this, you will rarely find a show that does not have in it included on the discs and most of the ones that do not are like super old DVDs of obscure anime...

I understand that it's against the rules, however I'm not certain on the legality of downloading only an edited version of an anime intro as copyright laws differ from region to region. For example in Canada you could only be sued for pirating music/applications/software/ect, while in other countries it could land you in possible jail time. As well as the fact of it being edited enough for it to be considered a fair use. Besides that however, the point was made that there are few anime DVDs that (I for one do not own any which don't) contain un-titled versions to the openings. Besides photoshopping frame-by-fame though, is there any other way or is it possible that I could ask someone here on the forums who is willing to assist me? I don't have photoshop myself (my computer is 7 years old and I am surprised it still functions as well as it does) and I don't intend to buy it until I get a new computer, but is there another way?

lol, the rules don't care about how legal you yourself are and what effects your country's laws have on you. they care about how legal/illegal you're making the site...if you post illegal content here, it makes the site that much more illegal, and the laws that apply will be wherever the site is based in.

and your thing about it being edited enough to make it fair use or whatever: lol, in most cases, it's actually illegal to do any editing at all to the original material

What was pointed out is that it's rare to find a DVD that doesn't have clean openings and endings. I only have a few myself that don't have clean OP/EDs and they are, as l33tmeatwad said, older anime. If they're being shared online, it's highly unlikely that they were hand-edited and fall under any sort of fair use, they are generally ripped directly from the DVDs and distributed along with the episodes, which is why it is against our rules. You can edit it frame-by-frame, or try content-aware fill as was suggested, but it's honestly much simpler to get them from the DVDs.
