However Ranma was an excellent dub, better than the japanese version which makes them all sound like they're 40. It's a pity that they changed Ranma's original voice half way through though.

I just don't think that American dubbing can for the most part compare to the original. Most of the time what the characters say would sound stupid in english. Japanese actors can be more seductive, make a scream more blood curdling or make you piss yourself with laughter. Plus you get to learn bits and pieces of the language which you can impress your friends with, especially the curse words.
Except for Kenshin who dosen't just sound like a girl it's an annoying girl doing his voice the dubbed kenshin is way better.

I sorry I couldn't disagree with you more. Maybe you watched the dub version first but if like me you didn't and then heard the abominable job that the english actor did you'd be as appauled as me. You can't beat the way Kenshin does his big battle cry or when he says, "Kaoru-dono" in surprise. Couldn't beat with a big stick. I'm very defensive about Kenshin it was my first love.(I mean that in a non-weirdo way)

I just bought the newest OAV so I haven't heard his voice yet but I'm assuming that it will be the same because if it's not I'll be fucking pissed as hell, I hate when they change character voices. I only saw 3 episodes with the dub because I couldn't stand being disilllusioned any more but you should listen to the dub when Kenshin comes back from the dead when he's fighting Shishio. It's just brilliant, I didn't know that someone could do that with their voice.

BTW do you have every single official DVD? If you don't mind me asking.

No most of my stuff is tapes. If you mean commercially released yes I have the series commerically released just most tapes and then the later ones are dvds. The english voices love em or hate them are the same throughtout the entire series.

It was ALL bad... Keitaro was just wrong, Seta kind of sounded like he didn't care, Mutsumi is just... *shudders*... etc...
the voices that were only kinda bad were Sara and Haruka.. they were OK I suppose.

But Mitsune and Kaolla... Oh god.. So horrible...

It depends on what I see it in first. DB/Z I like both, and depends on what's going on. When they are powering up sometimes it sounds better as a sub others I like it in both. But others like Kenshin? Don't ever get the dubbed that was the worst, I listened for 5 seconds MAX, and I deleted the file I downloaded. I watched the whole series, movie, OVAs in subbed and did not want to hear crappy dubbing.

But then other times, I hate the high pitched screamathon that comes with subs and there is TOO much info they are trying to plaster on the bottom of the screen (GASARAKI). And if you can't understand what's going on then it doesn't matter if it's Japanese or not, its shit. Then sometimes the subbing sucks, like kenshin or berserk, I prefer the fansubs. I do not like them translating Battousai into Manslayer (sounds dumb) or the names of his moves into english words. When that happens, it starts to sound like Power Ranger crap.

Other than that, no big deal, if it's a good series and as long as it's not a bad dub or sub; who cares? I don't make a hissy fit about it. I like Gundam Wing both ways. I don't like Akira subbed, but I don't like the New dubbed. The original is better. Eva both ways. Cowboy Bebop subbed. Tenshi dubbed cause I would not stand Aeka and Ryoko arguing in japanese, I'd turn it off. Saber subbed.

Most guy characters in series/movies have female voice actors. Kenshin voice sounds stupid. They tried to make a small man sound like a 300 pound beef head.

im usually all for dubs, but im going to have to agree with tacooe on this. me and a friend got a couple kenshin VHS tapes fo free, and i thought the dub was horrible. kenshin sounds like a homo, and everyone else is retarded (except for this one guy whose name i can't remember, he was the leader of the third something... bah i need to watch the tape again!). for once, im looking forward to seeing the sub.

The guy's name was Saitou Hajime he was head of the Shinsen Gumi third division, sorry I just feel great that I actually remembered that. His voice in japanese is so cool, it's really menacing and mocking. Enjoy it anyway.
