
No, it's not a VoIP system. All the phones are controlled from the big grey box on the wall with the Nortel logo (imagine that).
He should KNOW that wouldn't fix the problem, because the phones AREN'T IP PHONES. Seriously, it's all RJ-11 going into a 66-block and there are no services even REMOTELY resembling telephony on the DC. It's bad enough he reboots the entire damned network (DC/DHCP/DNS/Exchange all on the one box), but he does it for a problem there is no way in hell it will solve!

And while I bust my ass to keep things running with nary a thank you, he spends a couple hours on hold with our telecom provider and everyone is kissing his ass for it!! Petty, I know, but it still pisses me off.


Oh wait, I forgot, he's (direct quote from up the ladder) "highly trained with much experience in the IT field" and is the chosen one who will save us all from the darkness of malfunctioning technology. But then again, our A/V Engineer who seems to be in way over his head is also a "highly trained professional."
