Overall, I did enjoy this amv, but I think some of your effects was not needed like the tearing effect. The motion interpolation does look amazing but I think you need to find a way to clean or repair the warped frames. It is noticeable and distracting
Keep it up man!

Agreed about the warped frames, but we all know 60fps is never perfect. Not meant to be, but there's still a way to make them not so noticeable without adding distortion effects. You know what I think about it man, great job, cool concept, love the effects, love the motion. Sad that people might not understand the concept, but there's a lot of serious people out there. :pReplay Studios wrote:Overall, I did enjoy this amv, but I think some of your effects was not needed like the tearing effect. Re: tan(x)
Frankly speaking, I like this one more than the Labyrinth, particularly because this is more "complete" in what you wanted to say. The previous work was a kind of fun for the eyes, but nothing more for me. This time I really enjoyed the mixture of this abstract philisophical idea and those effects you used to make the whole thing more appealing. Again, I think you should've limited the time, since at one point even the most creative thing can become boring because of the repetitiveness of it's content.
In general, I think this is an evolution of your editing style and ideas you use in vids. Keep going and good luck on the con

It seems complicated for me but it's not something I see all days. Liked the motion

Re: tan(x)
Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it, honestly.
Regarding the distortion/cookie cutter/displacement effects many seem to regard as unnecessary I am a bit sad. I thought to use them as indicators for alienation, that later dominates the video. I wanted to give the viewer a kind of subconscious unpleasant premonition. But maybe that's exactly what it is when people tell me they don't like these effects

Desperately, that is. When you've reached the point when It follows the principle "the more masks, the better it looks" things will stop being motivating. I think I've endured it quite a bit longer than with my last video, but after some point I'm just getting sick of it
. Strictly speaking, putting it online and having success is just a positive side effect

It's probably not just not understanding the concept, but also not even wanting to think about it. I was fully aware of that problem when I started this video, but I ended up not caring. When I started thinking about things like "well, if there are people not liking this idea, what can I rather make that pleases everyone?", I just came up with things that I didn't like remotely as much as this one. In my theory, Into The Labyrinth was a really lucky hit in terms of me liking it, and people liking it. And it all comes down to what video I really want to see, not someone else. This hobby is a really egoistical one for meCour wrote:The sad reality.xDreww wrote:Sad that people might not understand the concept

I feel that you achieved this even without the displacement though. The first segment of the video creates enough unease by itself, which carries over into the second segment. Plus, some of the other effects you used in the second segment (The repeating and the dark distortion) also have the same affect. I personally don't think that the displacement was totally unnecessary, and as you said over at AKROSS, it does work nicely for sync purposes, but I do think you shouldn't have started using them right at the start of the second segment, and perhaps waited until a bit later. The perfect timing would be just when the viewer in starting to feel comfortable in the very different tone that the second segment introduced.lolligerjoj wrote: I thought to use them as indicators for alienation, that later dominates the video. Haha, this is exactly what I actually wanted to add to my post above, bit I simply couldn't remember itMouseBollocks wrote:but I do think you shouldn't have started using them right at the start of the second segment, and perhaps waited until a bit later.

And I can't deny that I simply liked them for the syncing. I just grew up syncing everything, I can't stop it now

I think you're my favorite editor now. But not yet my favorite amv-maker.
Your experimentation in this video was very fun to watch. Those twitches, creative little variations, and of course the super-smooth framerate.
4:12-4:16 may be my favorite segment from any AMV I've watched. Very, very nice scene selection, especially for that section of the song, but I wish you'd toned down repetition of certain scenes. I also really like how it built up to the climax (literally, ha), that scene at 4:33 gives me chills.
With a more solid concept, I think you'd have had a much more special video. As it is now, it reminds me a bit of the song itself: pretty self-indulgent, an interesting experiment, but lacking a coherent meaning beyond a viewer's wild interpretations. But that's not a bad thing. I really enjoyed it, keep it up
