Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Glad you bumped this, I missed it before and it was really fun to watch, especially the black-and-blue face, that was just precious.

The fact that this video went completely unnoticed is really pathetic, just shows that people tend to only comment on their friend's videos most times, but what do you do.

This video is fantastic. Trailer-amvs are very entertaining to myself personally and require a lot of skill to make it believable at all. The lipsync was spot on, which was the first step, which goes beyond just making the words look like they're coming out of the mouth, but having the facial expressions match so the tone of the voice isn't forgotten (which worked most of the time). :39 was probably the only unbelievable part of the video, the masked-in soap. Even then, it was kind of required, so at least you did something. The penguin bit you added from Mawaru Penguin Drum was hilarious to me. You really stayed true to the movie there, and those who have seen it will really enjoy that touch. And the Shatner part, ha.
You really capture the true essence of a trailer though. If someone's talking, you're not always lipsyncing to it, you have those overlays. You don't always hit beats when you transition clips. And you have those collage moments. 1:16-1:30 (and beyond that really, but I'll just focus on this part) is a perfect example. When the music kicks in you hit those beats and it increases the momentum, and the "but we won't" and other small snippets of lip-synced dialogue were well chosen, and even on the 'but we won't' you didn't start til 'we won't', and it's a small touch but it adds a difference to me, personally. Hard to describe, but having seen many movies and trailers, you don't need to always start at the beginning of a sentence/clause. The name credits at the end are sort of old fashioned, but work well.
The only other bad thing I can think of is how dark the trailer is (not just visually, but atmospherically) and how bright and childish this anime looks most of the time. However, the plot of DRRR makes it the best candidate to fit the trailer, for obvious reasons. It's unfortunate that sometimes the atmosphere lacked because of how the anime is, but that's a risk you have to take in order to make the plot as good as it was with this combination. Also, the fade out at the end with the music was way too harsh, and perhaps emphasized by the odd 'DRRR Club' on the phone. I know some trailers do end abruptly, but for whatever reason it doesn't work here, most likely because the whole video is so structured and has those set up and downs, and then the ending kind of just fades awkwardly. Not sure.
A top-class trailer-amv though, for sure. They're not done as often, you really have to be good at them, but they're the videos I enjoy the most truly, if they're any good. This is good. And I'm sorry about all the spam you've gotten on your thread with people commenting, crazy!

This made me watch Fight Club for the first time. Thanks.
Taite beat me to a lot, but I think it's worth mentioning how seamlessly the two sources worked together. Because I watched Durarara!! before Fight Club, I thought back to scenes like Masaomi's gathering with the Yellow Scarves when I saw the fight club in the basement. The clever synch (things like 0:24, the action along with the lipsynch Taite mentioned, and matching the sound effects, for example) comically made the two sources feel more like they were made for each other. You da bess.

My reaction was "Heh, nice little nod to Celty being mute which makes her the best candidate to mention the title without breaking Rules 1 and 2." If the abrupt ending is there to call attention to the joke then it serves its purpose, but it's awkward regardless.

That said, this was one of the most enjoyable AMVs I've watched this year. I give you neither the crotch nor the ass but a thumbs up
