AV synch post-production problems

Could this have anything to do with the Lame ABR versus CBR settings you think?

hmmm...I'm not entirely sure. I'll try outputting in both CBR and ABR and see what happens.

BTW I sent the vid to my friend, and he could not play it without its becoming choppy or getting out of sync.

OK, I just got a GREAT encode. I still need to work on the size, but for some reason this worked.

The things I changed are as follows:

I encoded the WAV audio in LAME using CBR as opposed to ABR
I encoded the video using Full Processing Mode as opposed to Fast Recompress.

Does anyone have a CLUE as to why this happened?

I would like to know exactly what AVG bitrate does. In my mind it averages the bits per frame? packet? Something anyways. It sounds as though it would require variable packet lengths which AVI doesn't support :\ Which is why you shouldn't use VBR mp3s with AVI files.

So ^_^ Maybe that's a idea.

Also fast recompress, may not have been grabbing frames properly. It uses a different method, which is faster, but doesn't always work on everything.

That's my guess.

Ahhh, I see. Thanks a lot, Klinky, you've been a big help through all of this. I'm doing a 2-pass encode right now, and I"m using what we've learned so far. I think it'll work, but I'm not positive.

The only problem I have with this is, if you do a full encode, doesnt it do colorspace conversation? Did anyone find out which of those things it was?
