From a promo website we have the following:
Convert Videotapes to DVD, MPEG2, MPEG1, VCD or SVCD
Capture video then burn DVD movies*
Burn movies on DVD or CD-RW*
Edit video and send back to VCR
* Additional hardware required.
Also the device is USB

USB atleast would meet the 9mbits required for DVDs... I guess

I doubt you can use VirtualDub with it though.

USB 1.1 is 12mbits/sec
http://www.usb.org/faq/ wrote: Q1: How fast is USB?
A1: High speed USB products[usb 2.0]have a design data rate of 480 Mb/s. Full speed USB devices[usb 1.1] signal at 12Mb/s, while low speed devices use a 1.5Mb/s subchannel.

Well, close. USB clogs much more of its bandwidth with non-user data than Ethernet does (theoretical maximum bandwidth available for user data for USB and Ethernet is something like 80% vs. 95%, IIRC -- go Google it)klinky wrote:Yes, just like 100mbit ethernet... ^_^trythil wrote:Yeah, even though USB (1.1, anyway) can theoreticaly do 12 Mbps, you're more likely to get half that, because of junk bits, idle devices, transaction headers, and so on.
On a good day, you might get 8 Mbps.

Additionally, you can speed up Ethernet by fully microsegmenting your network (which is just a fancy way of saying "use only switches and bridges"). You can't do that with USB, which is part of the reason why even idle devices can affect the available throughput.
