Pre-VCAs General Discussion

So, every year certain discussions come up and I think it may be a good idea to go over them before the VCAs actually start. For example, should we or not give to the awards a specific anime codename, certain categories we're up against, what's a MEP and what's a collaboration, who's considered a rookie, and all that drama. Here are some of my thoughts:

Remove the "Best Video That Made You Want To Watch the Anime" award. It's just... silly, since more and more AMVs have multiple anime in them, and also because hey, I for example, would only check out an anime because of one or two scenes I'll randomly see, not because of the way those scenes were edited. Also, since I started this thread, let me suggest a new award, a Best Intro/Outro one. I've seen dozens of well crafted intros in today's AMVs, so why not make a special award for those ones.

@Animated AFAIK that category was a one year thing, just like the best short video was the year before. There's a meta category of "unique award for year X" that shouldn't be expected to stay around unless it's suitably generic or represents a new genre trend that continues to be a thing.
