Re: Why are you in such a good mood?
Kind of weird to post this in the happy thread, but anyways....
Our old apartment complex is about to go up in flames.
Currently in Colorado Springs, where Kisanzi and I live, there is a massive fire. They've evacuated a rather large number of people and the fire doesn't show any signs of slowing. As of right now, on the livestream, not only can you see our apartment complex, you can see our individual unit that we were living in until last month. Kisanzi's mom has even been evacuated as she lived about 10-15 minutes away from where our old place was. It's incredibly likely that by tomorrow morning, our old apartments will be gone. (His mom is perfectly safe btw, she was only forced to evac because they lost electricity.)
Why is this in the happy thread you ask? While my heart goes out to those affected by the fire and I pray for their safety, I'm having one of those "everything happens for a reason" moments.
When I lost my job in May of last year, I was devastated. I've never had such a horrible experience with a company and Matt was forced to deal with quite a large financial burden for over 6 months. I felt like a miserable human being. But when I got my new job, we knew that the commute would be insane so we would have to move closer to my work. That was less than 30 days ago. I should also mention, that at our old apartments we had no renters insurance so we would have lost everything if we were still there and they do catch on fire as they're predicted to do.
In the past couple weeks, there was flooding, golf ball sized hail, and now a massive fire. In our new apartments on the outskirts of town, we're missing all of it. When it was flooding with actual rivers running through town, we got a couple clouds but not even a drop of rain. The fire is quite visible from where we are but there is virtually no chance of it reaching us.
So in a time of tragedy, it's pretty surreal to look back and say that one of the most difficult times I've had recently has helped us avoid a much worse situation than I ever could have imagined.
I guess things do happen for a reason?
That all being said, I'm going to go donate some money to the firefighters and shelters. They need to get this shit out.

Re: Why are you in such a good mood?
As an update to this post:
I found a new bank and officially got set up with them this morning. All that's left is to close my existing Wells Fargo account and it'll be over.
I swear, if I knew about how good the coverage was with this one, I never would have even signed up with Wachovia in the first place.

Last Picture:
Man: Oh honey! a boy from out of state has quit his job!
Woman: Omg honey, that's wonderful news! What was the boy's name again??
Man: I don't know. I don't even know how I got a hold of this information, but isn't this wonderful news??
Woman: Wonderful news, dear. Wonderful news!
