Why does everyone have a problem with dubbing? It all sounds fine to me.

Same here, thats what I say. Well acually some anime is dubbed poorly but for the most part its good.

Some companies do a good job at dubbing but others dont. For me there are a few dubs out there that rival their japanese counter parts, but not many. I prefer japanese over american because for the most part dubs stink. but like I said, there are exceptions.

It depends on the dub. Cowboy Bebop, Tenchi Muyo, or Irresponsible Captain Tylor, for example, all have very well done and good dubs.

Sailor Moon, Love Hina, Dragon Ball Z, and etc... as an example.. have horrible dubbing.

It only seems to bother the people who understand Japanese or they use the subtitles for DVDs with Japanese voices. The DBZ dubbing seemed fine to me, Goku sounded the best out of all the characters IMO.

I agree with Garylisk all the ones he mentioned to be bad are just that, bad dubs *shudders remembering DBZ and Sailor Moon dubs.

The first series I saw (EVA) was dubbed. I thought it was pretty good. Same with the old Akira dub. But I mostly prefer subs. There are things the Japanese can do vocally that are cool sounding, or seem to really fit the character, that an American voice would sound stupid or out of place doing, in my book. Like Osaka, in Azumanga Daioh, for those who've seen it.

Also, a lot of dubs have a problem with the female characters sounding valley girl/ or minorly bitchy, and all the men sounding either aw shucks/minorly embarassed or pseudo heavily testosterone pumped.

Just my thoughts.

I don't think the dubbing is really a problem until you heard the Original Jap voice actors. Some have execption, HellSing and Beebop I could watch quite easily, however Love Hina and most things that involve young girls just make me cringe.
I watched Plenty in Dubb before i turned, and i only turned thanks to fansubs, now even my dvds get switched over.

well slayers is the best dub ever. But Love hina was done by demons. Oh man Azu dubbed would suck!!!! In hellsing the dub totally destroys the sub The voice casting was perfect. I don't have a problem with dubs but now I prefer to watch my anime subbed.

The Slayers TV series is well dubbed. The movie and OVA's weren't so hot.
