Plus, it may be considered a 2001 release, I'm not sure how those idiots^h^h^h^h^h^h people at theAcadmey judge these things.
Three things:
1. This year, I don't really consider the Golden Globes as a major precursor for the Oscars when it comes to the Animated Film category, especially when you consider that the other favorite for Best Animated Film, Lilo and Stitch, didn't get a nomination itself. All it really does IMO is give the Wild Thornberrys Movie and Spirit: Stallion of Cimmeron a little boost for a possible nomination this year.
2. I don't think you need to worry that Spirited Away's 2001 release will prevent it from being nominated. As long as it's released in America within two years of its original release and it doesn't appear in any other medium (i.e. television) for six months after its original release date (June 2001), Spirited Away is eligible for the Oscars.
3. There's a possibility of FIVE nominations in this year's Best Animated Film category. If so, then Spirited Away will easily get a nomination.
