As some of you might know, Phade made a list of required viewing before making any sort of AMV. But a LOT of videos have been released since then, and I think there's a lot of great additions that this list could have made to it. Plus, I feel like we could diversify our lists into each of the AMV genres.
So, to the a-m-v.org community, I pose this question to you...
After we've got a good batch of videos that everyone has recommended, I'll update the first post with a list of the most commonly made suggestions and make it as a new "Community Required Viewing" as the thread title, and hopefully be able to help others out in the process. Even with only the most popular recommendations on the first page, we'll still have "x" pages of good videos that will likely be a great tool for anyone who wants to read the rest of the pages.What would be your own personal "Required Viewing" for any newcomer that's wanting to start editing, but might want to see how it's done first?
Plus, this is a great way to share some of the best videos this site has to offer (in one regard or another).

Action
These videos are exciting and filled with adrenaline! It is a roller coaster ride that could involve fighting, flying, or even playing tennis – if this video captivates you and gets your blood pumping, then it is the best action video.
Comedy
-This is the video that has made you laugh the hardest – not just because of the song or anime used, but because of the clever way they are put together.
Fun
-This is a happy, upbeat video that contains very little comedy and dance elements but still leaves an overall good feeling with the viewer.
Dance
-This is an energy-filled video, often containing prominent scenes of characters dancing, that most makes you want to get off your chair and DANCE!
Drama
-This video captures a heavily dramatic event, emotion, or situation and conveys it extremely well.
Fanservice
-These AMVs capture what the fans want. Usually, that means a characters "assets", but can also be references to other series or things just generally pleasing to the audience.
Horror
-These AMVs invite fear and dread into the hearts of the viewers. Were you scared?
MEP
-These AMVs involve multiple editors editing many different songs/tracks/anime together into a cohesive piece. How well these work together is the basis by which to measure these.
Romance
-These vidoes portray a romantic feeling or relationship in the most compelling way. It explores one or many of the faces of love, whether that’s happiness, yearning, devotion, flirtatiousness, nostalgia, heartbreak, or something else.
Lip Sync
-These AMV displays the best quality (NOT quantity) of lip-synch work in a video.
Collaboration
-Several editors working together on one song/AMV creating a piece that's better with two editors than one.
Rap/Hiphop
-These AMVs take a musical genre and emulate it through varying styles of editing.
[Note: I'm adding this one because I honestly feel like it's a genre in an of itself.]
Effects
-These videos utilize visual effects to enhance the overall effectivness of their concept/message, or just for the general enjoyment of others.
Trailer
-These AMVs advertise a specific movie/anime/etc and attempt to get the audience excited about it and view it in the future.
Instrumental
-These AMVs are put together without lyrics and can make just as powerful of a statement.
Sentimental
-Good sentimental videos are more lighthearted than dramatic and lack a prominent romantic theme, but they still compel attention and leave a lasting impression. Sentimental videos tend to explore themes like nostalgia, friendship, adventure, and wonder.
Character Profile
-This AMV is the most effective at capturing the essence of an anime character. It may tell a clear story, or it may consist of fragmented scenes carefully edited together to give us a sense of what the character is about.
Multiple Anime
-This AMV conveys a great story or theme by using two or more anime together. A central concept relates characters and emotions or binds multiple anime worlds into one, creating a video that would not work with one anime alone.
Storytelling
-These AMVs do their best to "tell a story" and entertain us.
