On the bright side, to balance off my whiny vent...

I had an awesome week with my brother before he went off to Japan (for good? Hell if I know - but I wish him good luck). I hadn't really seen him for 8 months before this, and last that I did see him things were kinda eh.. But now I'm seriously gonna miss having him around.

I also had one of the better lectures of my career so far today, mostly because I actually threw out all powerpoints and notes and just winged it for a while. It actually felt extremely good to both a) be able to show the students that I really know my shit; b) be able to actually talk to the students and focus on making it a clear, relatable explanation rather than talk at the powerpoint. This reminds me of why I hate powerpoints and why I love speaking from memory and own knowledge.
