Dark anime.

In a blatantly selfish attempt to aquire a more indepth understandin of anime lore, I ask you this.
What is some good, dark, bloody, NON-HENTAI anime?
I've seen Hellsing,
Devilman,
Vampire hunter D Bloodlust,
Ninja Scroll,
Sword of Truth,
That kind of anime.......something dark and violent. I look but can't seem to find.

Try X the movie, story isn't as good as the series, but it's pretty dark and violent.

I saw something in NewType that looked like a huge hellsing rip which might fit your purpose.. I forget the name but.. if I go look it up sometime I'll post it

You haven't seen Berserk? Oh man, get that first, that's blood, dark and the ENDING.....just damn. I promise you will love that one.

Escaflowne the movie was a lot dark than the seris was.

but Battle Angel and Armitage I think were a lot darker (and both were pretty good)
