I don't think you're quite right on this one. Yes they were all filmed at the same time, but they still spend a lot of time on the special effects of the movies. If I remember correctly, they went back a couple of months ago to New Zealand to do some more filming. Though this was probably to get some footage for things that they decided that they wanted after the fact.

So I gets back from watching the newest movie about the Bling Bling and I must say I enjoyed it pretty well. Considering that in the end:
Spoiler:
Hey! 1000 men came! Us 10,000 Orcs are obviously outnumbered! I guess we must retreat for the glare of the sun is too much for us bred-for-war warriors! The end was pretty rushed, but I guess necessary. Having been too lazy to read the books, the next and last movie was set up pretty well, having Gollum finally give in to the dark side and leading Frodo and fellow "good buddy" into danger.
Indeed, these movies most likely have many a nerdy fanboy creaming in their pants. As for me, the action sequences were overshadowed by another not-so-well-known action movie, Equilibrium. But that's ok, I knew that coming in.

One more year till Return of the King. Let me dress up like Gandalf; just remind me not to forget my fish sandwich.

SPOILER: (even though this whole thread is a spoiler)

Flashy magic or no, you have got to be a badass mofo to beat up the Balrog.

have you seen any of the actors latley? They don't fit the descriptions of the cast anymore. Elijah Woods hair is a difrent color. i know they can change over night and all, but everyone is diffrent. They have not been filming with the actors latley. And as far as I knew they could have shown all three together at any time, although I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to edit any of it.

Well...they couldn't have shown all three together immediately because their editing and assembly of the films normally takes several months. Basically, for the third film they've got all the footage, but it's not assembled into a story yet.
Als Gregor Samsa eines Morgens aus unruhigen Träumen erwachte, fand er sich in seinem Bett zu einem ungeheueren Ungeziefer verwandelt.

Oh, I think I gave the wrong impression. I thought I meant that they did go back to New Zealand a couple of months ago just to do some filming of the scenery. But my point is that just because a movie is done filming, doesn't mean that the movie is done. It still takes a long time to do the editing and incorporating special effects before the movies are "done." Look at amvs for example. Sure, I have anime source, and a music file of a song, that doesn't mean that the video is done.

Star Wars II was in post production for two years and it was still disappointing. I think they're doing it more for marketing than actual need of more time.

I know it takes longer than to film, I mean what do we do at this site? edit. Through out what ever non-sense I muttered, my point was they're done filming, and have been a long time.
