Re: Vent Thread
I woke up to a fire alarm and the hallway between apartments filling with smoke. Not one of the other 5 apartments were answering their doors. We called the fire department, turns out some lady fell asleep while she had food cooking (on a gas stove, no less.) and she didn't even hear the alarms! They woke ME up in the apartment across the hall, how did SHE not hear them?
Yeah, I was a little freaked out and then I felt a bit silly with the three firetrucks outside over some burnt food.....but what if no one else had called or was paying attention and it somehow spread?

Better to be safe then sorry honestly. Unless you're right there and see what's actually causing the smoke there's no way to know.

You did the right thing, burnt food can be burning food pretty easily.Ileia wrote:I woke up to a fire alarm and the hallway between apartments filling with smoke. In the apartment building where I live if someone burns their food the whole building's fire alarm system goes off and it automatically alerts the fire station. It's fun when you get home drunk at 4 am, sleep for 2 hours and then at 6 am you'll wake up to an awful ringing noise coming from outside your door and you need to drag yourself outside the building just because someone had burnt their friesIleia wrote:I woke up to a fire alarm and the hallway between apartments filling with smoke. Several hundred dollars down the toilet this weekend for Christmas gifts. GAH. I hate this season on my wallet, but it's my favorite time of the year. XD

Re: Vent Thread
I completely fucked up an interview (a little exaggeration perhaps). My answers were very general and slightly vague and would've been better with more detail and explanation. I didn't answer at least one of the questions completely. I choked on the first question which was extremely easy and could've done wonders if I had answered it fully. There's a list I have in my head of everything I did wrong. As soon as I stepped out of the room I knew that I had screwed up. But you can't just turn around and say, "Hey, can we do that again?"
I wouldn't be terribly upset if I don't get the job. I think its just that I know I could've done better. I would rather not get the job because someone else was more qualified for the position than not get it because I screwed up an interview. If I had nailed that interview and didn't get the job, at least I know I did my best. I didn't do my best and that really annoys me :\
