  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Undead Obsessions

Originally I wasn't planning for this to be a Halloween release, but since I finished it so close to Halloween; I figured why not?

EDIT: Just a head's up, the video's rather long (6:32 to be exact).

If anyone's interested in a 1080p version, I have one posted here. Since I don't have any personal webspace at the moment, I've just got it uploaded on sendspace.

YES. A SHIKI AMV. I highly approve.

The editing was pretty simple for the most part but it worked effectively and your story/concept was easy to understand. I do wish you had used something different for the faster beats in the song when it really picks up around 5:20 onwards. The jump cuts were getting a little repetitive and boring by that time.

Edit: My bad, I had the wrong settings on my media player. XD There's no aliasing so don't worry.

Otherwise it was pretty good. ;) And that poster is so creepy. D:

Ever since I noticed the Kyrie announcement thread I was curious if you were going to comment on this when I posted it.

Well, I think my editing style is pretty simplistic for the most part anyhow.

I don't necessarily agree, but I suppose that is fair to say of it.
AimoAio wrote:Oh and I'm not sure what it's really called but you seem to have something that looks like anti-aliasing in your 720p version. :uhoh:
Well, I watched a few times before posting it and I just watched it again now and I still don't see any artifacts. Maybe I'm just blind? Did anyone else who watched it notice anything like that? :?:

I'm glad you said that. I'm sooo happy with how that poster came out. So much better than I intended it to. :awesome:

Glad you liked it. I haven't seen Higurashi; I suppose maybe I should look into it.

On a different note, I've posted a 1080p version of the video (link is in 1st post).

I tend not to miss Shiki videos considering I'm a fan of the anime itself. ;) And don't worry about the aliasing, I had the wrong settings on my media player so once I resetted everything, it plays perfectly.

Don't worry, I did catch your edit not long after you posted it.

Yay, consistent beat sync! Really, I liked the repeatative pattern you used for the drums. I was also impressed by the consistent storyline that you had here (Natsuno/Megumi) but it looks like you ran out of clips since you suddenly introduced other characters. Maybe you could have prevented this with more careful planning? Or maybe you could have just focused on many characters right from the beginning? I would have picked the latter option.

Anyhow, a good example of the finess of repetation

Actually, the sudden introduction of other characters was intentional. That was planned out from the start of the project.

Here's my reasoning on the sudden introduction of other characters (video/show spoilers):
Spoiler :
I had planned for Natsuno to "die" around the 2/3 mark of the video. My thinking was that after Megumi realizes he isn't coming back from the dead, she kind of loses it (or becomes more unhinged for a lack of a better way to put it). Without Natsuno around to obsess over, she begins to lash out en masse. This brings the vampire problem to a head; riling up the villagers and therefore giving Natsuno several pawns to use to get even with Megumi. The end of the video is just the execution of moving said pawns around. So in the end, to me anyhow, it still really revolved around the dynamic of those two; but in hindsight, I can see how you perceived it the way you did.

Actually, I'm really glad to hear someone liked the level of repetition I used.
