In ep 2 he kills those vampires because they fed on women and childern and in ep 3, ( or 4 I forget) he then goes and kills a women to keep her from blabing about Hellsing. And then the other part about how he has to go and explain to everyone in LONG detail about why he is going to kill then and why they don't deserve to live.
"Oh wait, let me get me jot this down. right, right, women, uh hu, children, right right. So let me get this strait, I deserve to die because I did what now? Killed people? Say what now? Kill is bad? when did that happen?"
Wrong. He didn't kill them because they killed women and children, he killed them because they were killing people, not to feed, but just for the fun of it. Alucard never once kills anyone in that show just for the fun of it. He kills the reporter, yes, but he feeds on her as well, whereas the vamps in episode 2 do not feed on all of their victims, they simply slaughter them. That is not hypocrisy.

And then there is the fact that he has probably killed more inocent people then the enemies of hellsing combined. I like my good guys good and my bad guys bad, because having someone like Alucard be the protagonist of the show is just moronic. Now see, if he were the bad guy of the show and the hellsing people were fighting him, then he would my my all time favorite bad guy easily, because he is seething evil out of every pore. he just isn't cut out for the role of 'hero'.
You seem to be implying Alucard has no good qualities, which is far from the truth. He's quite dignified, for one thing, and for another, he's fiercely loyal to Integral, as proven by the fact that the seals on his powers were completely released in the last episode. This means he could have left after dealing with Incognito, as he was no longer sealed. But he goes back with Integral. I for one like hero's to not be 100% good, because 100% good heroes are boring, we've seen it all before five million times.
In conclusion, Alucard kicks ass, and makes a wonderful hero, in my opinion.
