A Message From The Edge...

Post by spk1983 » Wed Sep 07, 2011 7:39 pm

Well, been a while since I've completed anything...

I just wanted to edit a rather simple video this time around, very minor tweaks to some scenes and transitions at most...but getting the pacing to somewhere I'd be decently satisfied with, was a real pain!

Anyway, hope some (more than 1 person at least :uhoh: ) will like this.

I'm not going to say it. [shinkai drama concept... Ok, so I did say it.]

Ok, I think you started out with a fantastic opening. It was static, but it made the build-up to the part where the instruments get added, the movement seems all the more appropriate.

Black fades after the opening seemed to have less of an impact and hurt the flow of the music. At least in my opinion.

I know Place Promised is a very static/slow footage to work with, but I think the second half could have used a little more scene movement.

The piano effect slide at 1:17ish was kind of odd to see, especially since it doesn't make a re-appearance later.

Oh, and AWESOME font choice at the start.

Generally, pretty good. I dug it.

I hear you with regards to more scene movement later on, it was just quite tricky to find scenes that had movements that would have fit along with the flow of the music. I had edited and re-edited the second half of that video so many times, because I just wasn't happy with how things were going. I think that was why I stopped editing it for a few months, because it had just frustrated me so badly.

I was kind of on the fence on the black fades later on as well. The piano slide, I didn't want to reuse it, otherwise I would have done more of that for the ending pieces.

Thank you for the comments btw, I really do appreciate it.
